We were pretty organized for this trip! We had lists in our AnyList app, and were able to go through it and check things off as they were packed. Getting to Avon to have our sister-in-law, Beth, take us to the Indianapolis airport was uneventful and very convenient as always.
We got ticketing, luggage checked, and through security without a hitch, and had plenty of time to find our gate and grab a bite before boarding. The plane was a little late in departing, but there was a decent amount of time in our Toronto layover so we weren’t too concerned.
We arrived in Toronto nearly on time but delayed getting plane to gate. We can see the smoke from the Canadian wildfires, but apparently it was not a factor in flying today.
We had only a small detour in trying to get to the gate for international flights. A few extra steps didn’t hurt! We had plenty of time, so not too much angst. We got the ‘free’ Wi-Fi to finally work, but it’s not real fast, and the functionality is limited. We’re trying to limit our cellular use while out of the country as we pay for our usage by the day, and we’re going to try and use Wi-Fi whenever we can and save cellular for when we’re out and about in cities where we need the maps.
Both flights have been full and we’re having to check our carry on luggage. There are positives and negatives about that, but we have compartmentalized our stuff, so we’re able to do it relatively easily. Maybe we are becoming seasoned travelers.
We both were able to sleep some on the plane, but not enough to feel satisfied. We got into Zurich a little later than planned and then had quite a wait (at least 45 minutes to an hour) to get through customs. No problems there once we got to the front of the line. Finding our luggage carousel took a little more time, but our luggage was all there very quickly.
