Hotel Scheuble Zurich hotel June 10-12

  • June 10
  • I think we should go with nothing officially booked/scheduled JUST IN CASE your flight is delayed or you are just wiped and can’t fathom going out! J I would suggest the following though, which you could do on your own:
    • Take a walk through the Swiss National Museum (open until 5pm) – an easy 10 minute walk from your hotel and its included with your Swiss Pass. There is so much info about Switzerland and its history which I’m sure would be of interest before you see Thomas the next day! Maybe a quick nap first? J https://www.landesmuseum.ch/enWalk about 15 minutes from your hotel to Zurich Burkliplatz (main boat port) and do one of the Lake Cruises – I think you are doing the long one of these on your Travel Day with Viking, but you could do a mini/short version if you’d like something simple/relaxing to do in the evening! Mini (1-2 hours), Short (2 hours). It is included with your Swiss Travel Pass. https://www.zsg.ch/en/timetable-prices/timetable-assistant/round-trips-scheduled-cruises

Bern – Hotel Baren Am Bundesplatz

June 12

    • Morning Private Walking Tour with a Local – 2 Hours ($121.50 total) or 3 Hours ($182.26 total)
      • Note that this is not a professional/licensed GUIDE – this is a local person from Bern who will show you the sites and how to navigate the city, show you the sites and give you some details about it, but mostly will give you an overview of the city and insider local knowledge.

  • June 13 – Day trip to Interlaken, Jungfraujoch, & Luzern*
    • Bern to Lucerne by train at 8:00am (1 hour)Explore Lucerne by foot (1.5 – 2 hours) & do a panoramic sightseeing cruise (1 hour) – you could do this on your own (lake cruise is included in your Swiss Pass) or we could get a guide if you’d like for a few hours? Take the Zentralbahn (Luzern-Interlaken Express) 12:06p – 1:55p (https://www.zentralbahn.ch/en/interlaken-express)
      • Reservation Required for this train
Head up to Jungfraujoch by gondola 14:35 – 16:11 then returning back down 17:47 – 19:23
      • Reservation required and this is the last gondola of the day
    • Train from Interlaken -> Bern at 8:00pm (1 hour) – return back to Bern at 9:00pm

**Note that this MAY be too much to squeeze in 1 day depending on how you’re feeling – let me know if you’re comfortable with this long day! J**

**In this version, you would only have 30 minutes to sort of explore Interlaken town – which isn’t a HUGE deal to be honest. But if you’d like a little more exploration time, we could bump up the departure from Bern to 7:00am and then take the Zentralbahn to Interlaken at 11:05a-12:55p, so you’d have 1.5 hours to look around instead?**

Geneva – The Ambassador

  • June 14 – Travel to Geneva (two options)
    • Option 1 – Take the Golden Pass Train (https://www.gpx.swiss/en/)
      • Train from Bern to Interlaken around 8:00am (1 hour)Explore Interlaken for an hour and a half if you didn’t have time the day before (you can drop bags in storage locker)
        • If you don’t want to explore Interlaken, we could depart later from Bern and sleep in a bit J or there is an earlier Golden Pass train at 9:08am – 12 :20pm
Take the Golden Pass Train from Interlaken to Montreux 11:08am – 2:20pm
        • Reservation Required for this train
Train from Montreux to Geneva (1 hour)Check in to hotel, drop off bags and do some self exploration or potentially schedule a private walking tour, time permitting (see below details) or do a 50 minute Geneva Lake Tour
    • Depart Geneva at 10:45 and cruise to Lausanne, arriving at 2:25pm
      • Explore on your own ORTake a 1-2 hour walking tour with a local (like in Bern) – not a professional guide, but a local person to show you around! Approx $70 versus a private guide which is $450.
    • Return to Geneva via train whenever you’d like (45 minutes)

Zermatt – Hotel Walliserhof Zermatt.

  • June 16 – Travel Geneva to Zermatt by train, approx 3.5 hours via Visp, depart at about 7:00am
    • Enjoy your hotel and the beautiful city!
  • June 17 –
  • I have 2 options for today as well!
    • Option 1 – sleep in, enjoy Zermatt a bit more and leisurely make your way back to Zurich by train.
      • I would recommend departing on the 1:35pm train via Visp up to Zurich. You would arrive around 5:00pm. But you could go even later if you’d like!
    • Option 2 – try to take the Glacier Express Train
      • I say TRY because currently there are not any seats available to reserve on June 17, however, the seating availability changes CONSTANTLY, and I fully expect that we would be able to grab 2 seats within the next month
      • My reservation about this option is that you would have to leave early – the 3 trains that run that day depart at either 7:52am, 8:52am or 9:52am. So that would be less than 24 hours in Zermatt – but the Glacier Express is spectacular scenery. This would be the itinerary:
        • Depart Zermatt at 7:52a – 1:25pm arriving in Chur OR
        • Depart Zermatt at 8:52a – 2:25pm arriving in Chur
        • Depart Zermatt at 9:52a – 3:25pm arriving in Chur**
        • Take the train direct from Chur to Zurich, about 1.5 hours – arriving either around 3:30 or 4:30 or 5:30
        • Lindt Chocolate tour: https://tickets.lindt-home-of-chocolate.com/selection/timeslotpass?productId=101502126146&lang=en
        • I would most prefer the 9:52am train, but this one sells out more quickly than the others, so we MIGHT not be able to get seats on the latest one.
